First of there are many different types of acoustic guitars, however if you are after a guitar that is "easy" to play then there is one guitar type I would recommend.
When someone say they have a acoustic guitar, that for me says that they have an non electric, steel string guitar. It does not have to be that, but that's my definition of an acoustic guitar. And if that's the case, I would NOT recommend you start playing an non electric guitar with steel strings. Simply because you're fingers are not tough enough. It will take 2-3 weeks for you're fingers to get use to playing. And if you have an steel string guitar it won't be pleasant.
So for starters pick a nylon string guitar to start of with. If you go into the shop. Ask for the classical guitar.
The nylon strings are thicker than steel strings so it's much easier for you're fingers. And nylon strings are also easier to push down, so you're hand won't get tired to quickly.
And for newbies starting out. I'll tell you this. If you think you're guitar playing sounds like crap when you start playing, don't worry. It takes 20-30 min to warm up. YES you need to warm up. When you start, you're hands probalby are very stiff and that affects you playing and how good it sounds.
