Thom Bresh and Nokie Edwards have put together an video to promote that they will be touring together. It's only going to be the two of them on stage. But it will be some very unique concert performances that they will do. In this promotional video or EPG, short for Electronic Press Kit.
We will hear Nokie Edwards and Thom Bresh play together. But we also get some history lessons for those of you who don't know about The Ventures and their lead guitarist Nokie Edwards. Nokie Edwards real first name is Nole. He is from Lahoma, Oklahoma, hence the "Nokie". He turned professional at 11 and was on the radio at 13! That's it . . . Nole from Okie.
The Ventures have written over 1000 tunes, and recorded over 3000 songs. If they ever decide to play all of the songs that they've ever recorded, it would take almost 5 days without a break to play them all. We will hear from Terry Currier who is the owner of Music Millennium. How the sound of The Ventures and Nokie Edwards inspired the direction of a whole new industry back in the day.
And we also get some background about Thom Bresh, the son of the famous guitar player Merle Travis.
There is a small and rare clip from 1979 with Thom Bresh playing with his father Merle Travis on TV. Nokie Edwards and Thom Bresh plays some of The Ventures classical songs like Pipeline on the video. But we will also hear them play the song Secret Agent Man that was a big hit in the 60's by Johnny Rivers and many more.
