The songs Leo is playing here in the medley are The Train and the Gate and Vaseline Machine Gun. Leo Kottke is widely known for his innovative fingerpicking style. He draws influences from blues, jazz, and folk music. And syncopated, polyphonic melodies.

Vaseline Machine Gun was actually his first song he composed using the slide in his early career. And like most of the songs Leo Kottke played in his early career this song is also played in open tuning.
