Dozens of Harp Guitar Players Join
Join Stephen Bennett, Gregg Miner, John Doan, Andy Wahlberg, Andy McKee, and dozens of harp guitar players from around the world as they celebrate the instrument in the grand finale of the Oct 27, 2007 concert at the 5th Annual Harp Guitar Gathering. Come see what we're all about at https://www.harpguitars.net/hgg/hgg5/hgg5.htm
The harp guitar may be unknown for the most of you. It's just what the name says, it's an harp and guitar put together. And with that it gives you a very powerfull instrument. They are not cheap though, they sell from $1000 to well over $10 000 so it's nothing that the most of us can afford. It's kinda sad because if they where cheaper, we would get alot more people picking up the instrument.
Anyhow this song "The Water Is Wide" that they play here is an English folk song that has been sung since the 1600s. If you like to hear the lyrics to this beautifull song, check out the performance that Tommy Emmanuel, Doyle Dykes and Lizzie Watkins did at Raalte 2006.
I also have the lyrics written down there so you can sing along if you like.
I like this performance, it starts out with two playing harp guitars on stage. Then another joins in, and before you know it the whole stage is full of harp guitar players.
