♫ Phil Keaggy - Just the Same at Wheaton College ♫ Olson Acoustic Visual Sound Route 66 Pedal - True Sound Clean Boost

Hi all,

Well I might as well share some music with you guys while I'm at it. I actually meant to post this around Easter time but there was a bit to much work at that time so I didn't get to it.

Phil Keaggy is here seen performing his song Just the Same at Wheaton College. Now before I go on, this song Just the Same sure have been around a long time.

It's found on his album Love Broke Thru that came out 1976. Of course on the album Phil have backup and other instruments playing along, so what we see here is him playing solo. Also most of the lyrics are different in this version.. But hey you can do that, it's after all his song. And it sounds great.

I like this performance, the way Phil use the different loops and delays to keep the song going while he's playing and singing is really fun to watch. I have been thinking about getting me one of these delays too, but they are a bit pricey.

Expect to fork out around $200 for a decent one and a bit less for the ones that have less functions and inputs. And of course you would need a microphone or have a acoustic electric guitar to be able to fully use these too. So yeah it's not something you go and get just like that, at least not in this recession.

But here it is, enjoy.

♫ What would Mona Lisa Google Do ♫

Hi everyone

It's been a while since I wrote anything here, for you that have dropped in here since my last post, you might have noticed the changes in backgrounds on the blog. That's right I have been trying to redo the blog and try something else. But most of all it was because the old look, or more exactly the source code was becoming so modded that things changed from the original that all the changes started to affect other parts of the blog.

So with a new year I ended up with a fresh template and a few tweaks here and there. Might change things further down the line, but for now I'm pretty happy with the way it looks.

Oh and I have not really been doing any wallpapers or taking pictures lately either.. Google if you have noticed changed their image search a month or so back. What this did was google now is displaying full resolution pictures in their searches.. Some people pay $300 a month to host images on servers along with their webpages, and the more people download the more is the cost. The problem here is google... Everytime people google search an image like "guitar" and my picture turn up in the search, google downloads this full resolution picture at the cost of me.

Google have now become the guy sitting in the cinema with a camcorder streaming the full HD movie to people who google search and totally bypassing copyright law and ripping off hard working artist, photographers and anyone who have a picture on the net.

What more is, now when you ask someone where did you find that picture the reply has been reduced to "it's that picture of an old lady I found on google" when the correct reply should be.. This is Leonardo da Vinci's portrait of a woman The Mona Lisa.

So the bottom line is people can't afford to host images anymore because millions of people google search, and every single Megabyte costs someone money..

I remember back in the day when you would block rightclicks on webpages so people could not save the images on the page.. Well it's all on google now.

On the flipside I might try and only host really low resolution crappy images and wallpapers online, and then try and package full HD wallpapers into zip or rar files for seperate download. That would somewhat get around this problem.

That or start playing the Mona Lisa Blues..

♫ Phil Keaggy - Awesome Guitar Gear Demonstration ♫ Mario Martin Green Guitar and Olson Acoustic Guitar

Hello everyone!

I know I haven’t posted lately and it’s the same story as last time, simply been to busy. However a lot of things have happened, too much to cover in one go though. But I can tell you all it’s all good. Hoping to get more time to sit down and write after Christmas! Oh that’s right it’s that time of the year again…

First things first, today it’s that special day of the week again namely Friday!! And I have a special treat for you all too. I tell you I sat glued to the screen watching this video.

Phil Keaggy is here demonstrating some of the pedals for Visual Sound, and it sure sound’s great! Playing an custom Mario Martin Green Guitar Fender Telecaster with Duesenberg Pickups and plugged into the Visual Sound’s Route 66 pedal and Truetone Clean Boost makes an awesome combination. But that’s not all, we also get to hear Phil on his custom made Olson Acoustic Electric guitar plugged in too. That Dual Tap Delay together with the egg is and interesting combination also to say the least. Makes me want to go and get some guitar gear myself.

For a guy with 9 fingers (I read some of his biography, you should read it too) Phil sure plays great, I feel pretty confidante to say that Phil can play more guitar styles better than most 10 finger guitarists out there.

You can read more of Phil Keaggy's life here

You really should not miss out on this video, I’ve seen it a few times already. And probably going to see it a few times more. It’s great inspiration to watch great guitarists play, even if they are just messing around. And if you like Phil Keaggy you should not miss this video either Phil Keaggy - The Wind and the Wheat - Acoustic Electric Guitar Instrumental 1987

Personally I have a lot of new ideas however, stuff to write about.. Music wallpapers and of course guitar wallpapers have a few ideas there too, still in my head though got to get it out if I just could find the time to do it. And I have been thinking about making some videos too, but all that takes time to put together. So there’s a lot of stuff going on behind the scene. Stay tuned and wait and see what’s showing up next.

Oh and if you like this video of Phil Keaggy you will also like this new one I posted.

 Enjoy :)

♫ Music Wallpaper - Acoustic Guitar Burned Shadow and Nickelback ♫

Hi folks,

I've been busy with a lot of things these past weeks, it's summer.. A lot to do but also trying to get some R&R. Anyhow I bought a airbrush today, I'm doing some painting and thought I should go ahead and buy one because it's been on my mind for a long time, up until now I usually use spray cans because it's quicker to get stuff done. Otherwise you need to mess around with paint and then there's the cleaning of brushes and all that when you're done.

I was looking at the airbrushes in the store and figured I'll buy the cheapest one, if I like it I can always get the more expensive airbrush set at the store. I still don't know what the difference is in the professional airbrush set and the one I bought, besides that the airbrush I got now is made of plastic.

Airbrushes use compressed air to spray paint and that compressed air needs to come from somewhere for it to work.. Actually I was looking at the air compressor that was supposed to be used for the airbrush set at the store, it said on the box the compressor delivered 45 liters/min air and the maximum pressure was 2.5 bar (40 psi) it wasn't cheap, 89 Euros. So I thought hey why don't I use my little 12 Volt air pump instead.. It should work right?

So later in the garage I mixed some paint (white) and connected all the hoses and turned on my little compressor.. Nothing.. DOH! I looked at the pressure, no problem there 2-3 bar, but the air flow was not there, not enough air to get the paint spraying. I guess my little air pump just could not keep up.

While I was messing around in the garage cleaning all the paint and trying the get it done before the paint started to dry in the airbrush Nickelback - When We Stand Together played on the radio. There is something about that song, I can't say I liked the song the first time I heard it. And I haven't even seen the whole music video yet but "When We Stand Together" have started to grown on me.

So when I couldn't paint with my airbrush I sat down at my computer instead and started to draw. I knew I had been absent and should have made a lot more paintings than I have this summer. I didn't have anything in particular on my mind when I started messing around with this Guitar Wallpaper, but somehow I can't help but to think that Nickelback had something to do with the outcome. What I was going for at first was to have this shadow of an Acoustic Guitar on the wall, but as I got further in the painting I figured it would look nice to burn the shadow into the wood. And because the Acoustic Guitar looked so lonely in there, I gave it a microphone for company.

I think what makes this song so good is the lyrics, and that it's played clean (without heavy distortion)
The Lyrics for Nickelback - When We Stand Together
One more depending on a prayer
And we all look away
People pretending everywhere
It's just another day

There's bullets flying through the air
And they still carry on
We watch it happen over there
And then just turn it off

Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
We must stand together
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
There's no giving in
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
Hand in hand forever
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's when we all win
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's, that's, that's when we all win
That's, that's, that's when we all win

They tell us everything's alright
And we just go along
How can we fall asleep at night
When something's clearly wrong

When we could feed a starving world
With what we throw away
But all we serve are empty words
That always taste the same

Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
We must stand together
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
There's no giving in
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
Hand in hand forever
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's when we all win
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's, that's, that's when we all win
That's, that's, that's when we all win

The right thing to guide us
Is right here inside us
No one can divide us
When the light is nearly gone
But just like a heartbeat
The drumbeat carries on

And the drumbeat carries on

Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
We must stand together
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
There's no giving in
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
Hand in hand forever
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's when we all win
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's, that's, that's when we all win
That's, that's, that's when we all win

I had some trouble with getting the guitar looking right, but in the end it's just a shadow of a guitar so it really does not matter if it's all correct. And to think about it this would never happen in real life anyways..

So what we can see in the Guitar Wallpaper is part of the soundhole in the left corner with the neck of the guitar going up to the right corner of the screen. And I made sure the Wallpaper turned out to be of the size 1920x1200 so that it should fit most computer monitors. Oh and I almost forgot to mention, this Wallpaper turned out really big, it's more than 2 MB, I was trying to get it smaller but I would have lost to much of the colors otherwise. So give it some time to load.

Well I guess I need a bigger air compressor...

♫ The Story Of The Guitar – First Fender Stratocaster In The UK ♫

Hi folks,

David Gilmour, First Fender Stratocaster, Vintage, 1954, Serial 0001, Electric Guitar
It’s Friday again and it’s not just any Friday either, it’s the first Friday of June. So I thought that I should show you something special to celebrate this warm summer day. Now I have been going on talking about my old Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar for quite some time, but I know that some kids today (some adults too) don’t really know the history of the Fender Stratocaster. What it stands for and what it was that made it what it is today and back then.

I found this great little documentary made by BBC called The Story Of The Guitar – First Fender Stratocaster In The UK

Fender Stratocaster, Electric GuitarNow this is only a part of that show they talk about many guitars, but this part here it’s the best one and they talk about the History of the Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar and we get to hear Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch talk about having the 'First' Fender Stratocaster in The UK. But not only that, we get to hear the “very first” made Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar Serial Number 0001 played on which is owned by David Gilmour.

Electric guitar, electric guitars, Fender Stratocaster,The White Vintage 1954 Fender Stratocaster still have a great guitar sound and David Gilmour really makes it sound nice. It’s nice to see such an old and rare Vintage Electric Guitar played on. I bet most people would have it stored away safe and sound instead, so it’s nice to see a rare guitar being put to use like it should.

David Gilmour plays it clean in this video, I gave it a go too because I liked the tune I heard David play on the video. It makes me want to pick up my Fender Stratocaster right now and play while I’m writing this, it’s makes such a nice clean sound.

Red Fender Stratocaster, Electric Guitar, Electric Guitars, Mark Knopfler,Mark Knopler talks about his childhood and we get to hear his story about the Fender Stratocaster, wanting that Red Fender Stratocaster growing up not having enough money t buy one.
Jimi Hendrix, Fender Stratocaster, Electric Guitar, Burned, Charred,
John Etheridge share his story about when he first saw The Shadows performing with Fender Stratocasters back in 1961. Paul Day gives some of his insight.

And Pete Townshend talks about how the Electric Guitar added more to music showing Jimi Hendrix playing on his Fender Stratocaster performing Wild Thing.

No other instrument could produce the sound which the Electric Guitar could do. We get to see one of Jimi Hendrix charred Fender Stratocaster's which he set fire to during a performance in London over 40 years ago.

Well you really should not miss out on this great little story about the Strat, I’m off now, I have this urge to play my Fender Strat really, really bad right now.

Some thoughts about guitar courses and guitar lessons online

Pointers when you buy guitars like electric guitars and acoustic guitars with all the guitar gear avaliable

Nowdays you can find electric guitars for sale and acoustic guitars for sale on the www. You can even find some nice pa speakers and guitar gear if you want. But back in the day and probably even still today, it's a common thing that you would look around, maybe in the newspaper or go to town to look if you could find an acoustic electric guitar for sale that you like. Most would go to a music store that have electric guitars for sale or acoustic guitars for sale and then spend some time in the music store playing before they make the decision and buy a guitar. Now let me tell you that going to a music store would probably be best for a beginner because he or she would then also get advice from the store about what guitar gear and guitar accessories that would be best to look at also for the beginner guitar player.

But we guitarists that have been playing now for many, many years are more and more starting to look on the www when it's time for us to buy guitar however we are not always after new ones though. I have been having my eye on one acoustic electric guitar for sale now for some time, it's a Yamaha but it's the handcrafted one and it's got a great guitar sound. However if I go ahead and buy guitar at the local store that would cost me a bit more, so that's why I have been turning more to WWW music stores that have this acoustic electric guitar for sale. Most of the time. However because it's a handmade guitar few stores have it in stock. So I'm still searching but maybe someday I will find a place that have my acoustic electric guitar for sale so I can be happy with my buy.

The thing is that when you do come across a place that let you buy acoustic guitars and you find your acoustic electric guitar for sale or a place that have a lot of different electric guitars for sale you start to look at what more they got in stock. Like oh lets see, I could use new pa speakers and some guitar gear would be nice. I don't think you could have to little guitar gear because you are kind of limited in your guitar playing otherwise. Well I think it's like with everything else that in the end you come out with an even more expensive acoustic electric guitar or whatever it was than the one you had you're eye on.

Want the hear something silly? Did you know that now you can even get guitar jewelry I mean what is that? They didn't have guitar jewelry when I grew up, or at least it wasn't that "big". When I was a kid you would be lucky if you got a music stand or guitar case to go along with your new guitar. I think this have more to do with the fact that a lot of artists today have rap jewelry or music jewelry that they wear. You know there are also gold guitar picks now.. Well I don't think gold guitar picks are somethig that new but if you start to look at the whole picture. You begin to see with all this guitar jewelry and music jewelry with gold guitar picks and, did I leave something out? Oh yeah rap jewelry is not to be forgotten. So you know there is a lot of stuff out there.

Now I don't think you can have enough of either acoustic guitars or electric guitars but because you now easily can buy electric guitars on the www and easily buy guitars on the WWW you might want to think a bit about which guitars you want before you go on a spending spree. Make up a plan, look at your style of playing and go from there.

So now you have your guitar and guitar gear but how do you play?

Well everyone started out somewhere didn't we. I however did not take any guitar courses when I started out. Well actually now that I think about it I did take a basic guitar course back in middle school. But this was a few years before I really picked up the guitar and made a effort to learn to play guitar and play my first songs. And back then we only played some really easy chords, you know simple stuff. Now more than 13 years on looking back at how I have evolved as a guitar player I do see that I could have very much evolved quicker with guitar lessons online than without them.

However back then we didn't good guitar lessons online that you can get today. There are even some good free online guitar lessons out there now that would be suitable beginner guitar lessons for you young people. However I know that there are a lot of you "old" guys and gals out there that also want to learn how to play guitar and just because your not young and "nimble" does not mean you can't learn to play guitar also. I know there are some very good musicians out there that didn't start to play until they were middle age and it turned out that they could play really good.

When it comes to guitar lessons online you should not get turned off if you come across guitar lessons online that don't suit you. Because we all learn different. Some of us are quick learners and other (like me) it takes us a bit longer. And how well we learn to play guitar is not only up to you but also the guitar teachers. If you are lucky you find some guitar courses with guitar teacher that you like and stick with them.

But again we all learn different so what works for some might not be what works for you. Me on the other hand I tend to play guitar as a hobby, and because of that I don't like to play if I'm not in the mood. That's another thing that's great with online guitar courses because you get to decide when it's the best time for you to learn to play guitar not the other way around. Otherwise you would need to keep an appointment to your guitar course and be "forced" to play even though not really in the mood. On the other hand playing guitar makes me in a good mood, so don't get too upset about you sending your kids away to their guitar courses

You should look around at what guitar courses are available and if your a beginner then some beginner guitar lessons are where you should be looking for first. And even though you know a little how to play guitar already. I'm sure it would be good for you to start out with a beginner guitar lesson first because there are always something that you can learn. You would not want to "play wrong" for a number of years only to find out way later that you should not move your arm when you strum the guitar now do you? Well Steve Vai does that, and he's pretty good you know, but that's one thing that guitar teachers point out that you should not do. Move your wrist instad, that gives you better control. It's the small things like, holding a guitar pick and sitting straight that you miss out on without some good guitar lessons and I'm not kidding.

Something like that could happen to you if you don't get your basics right from the start. So go ahead and look around for some good guitar lessons online I have a selection on this page at the top if you are interested. And remember it should be fun, but it will take some practice but that's one thing that good guitar teachers should be able to help you with.

Songwriters and music producers usually started out after learning guitar

So now you have you're guitar and know how to play

We all evolve, with anything we do we get better and sooner or later we start to seek more challenges. The natural step for a new guitar player would be to either join a band or start a band. However some of you will go on and make your own music and become music producers or songwriters full time. There are a few things that differ though. If you're in a band, probably a small one.. What you really need is recording labels or a record deal to get you onto the big stage. Someone to promote music that you make, of course you can promote your music yourself. One thing you can do to promote your band is to join a music contest instead. That will help PROMOTE MUSIC because it will get people talking if you are good enough. There are some major record labels accepting demos that you can go to but if you promote your band doing music contests and win you might even get music promotion companies to get their eyes / ears open to your music and contact you.

There's no secret that music agents and music publishers are present in the crowd from time to time, and if you do good this will get you offers from recording labels for sure. If you're a songwriter or lyricist you probably want to sell music and the big question is how to sell music to record companies if your an unknown lyricist. There's no big secret really, if your music is good and you make yourself seen chances are you will get in contact with independent record labels and if you start to get out there and get yourself known, then upcoming bands will also be in contact with you.
